In flexographic printing, the anilox cylinder determines repeat length on the substrate. If circumference is not an exact multiple of track height, there will be a gap between repeats — and the job goes to waste.

Error 1: Confusing UP height and track height

In label flexo, track height = UP height + advance gap. Many printers calculate with UP height only and discover the offset only at first run.

Error 2: Rounding to the "nearest" cylinder

Using the closest available cylinder without checking the exact multiple. 2-3 mm tolerance seems fine on paper — on an 8,000 m roll, that's thousands of non-conforming labels.

Error 3: Ignoring real stock

The right cylinder may be in stock, but nobody knows because the register is in Excel. Result: ordering a new cylinder when a compatible one is already available.

Error 4: Forgetting the die-cut cylinder

In label flexo, there are two cylinders: print AND die-cut. Each must respect the exact multiple rule — with its own track height.
